Show & Tell: This year's Christmas card

As I explained in a Show & Tell post last year about my Christmas card strategy, I almost always know my Christmas card for the year when I see it. In past years, Classic Pooh has been a favourite theme, but Pooh designs seem to be in short supply this year, at least hereabouts.

I found my last year's card at a Chapters/Indigo store, and I saw one design I liked at a Chapters store, during the week that we were on vacation last month. Mid-October seemed a tad early to be buying Christmas cards, though (!!), & I decided to look around just a little bit longer. I'm glad I did, because another Indigospirit store I was browsing in recently had a card I had not yet seen at the other store -- one that stopped me dead in my tracks to say, "Yes, THAT one."

I went back & practically cleared out their supply today. (It's STILL awfully early, but I didn't want to go back two weeks from now & not be able to find it.) Like last year's card, it's by Papyrus. It's called "Little Boy Pulling Red Sled" -- but I think it could very easily be a little GIRL pulling the sled, don't you? ; )

The message inside reads, "May the simple joys of the season be yours/Happy Holidays."

It was more expensive than the Hallmark cards I usually buy -- but so worth it.

  1. The right design for christmas cards is so important to me too. In fact, I look foward to a mini-scrapbook for the kids when they are grown where they can flip through only x-mas card of the past, seeing themselves grow up year by year!

    Your choice is so gorgeous!

  4. It's a beautiful card. You sound like me--not wanting to leave it to chance, so buying the thing extra early. :)

  5. Beautiful card. I don't put that much thought into Christmas cards, but I appreciate others who do. Of course, I'm 40 years old and just started sending out Christmas cards about 5 or 6 years ago...

  6. Early? Girl, I buy my next year's christmas cards after christmas. Target always has some really nice ones. I used to make my cards every year. I absolutely love the holidays.

  8. Christmas card design is serious business... :)

I love Papyrus cards! I'm going to have to look through our stock and see if we have that design.

btw... thanks for the plug for 'my' store (ok, so it's not mine... but I work for the company)

  9. I loved last year's card ( I didn't want to take it down for the longest time!) and this year's is equally sweet. I didn't realize it wasn't a little girl pulling a sled until you said that it was called "little boy pulling sled" (I sneaked a peek at the picture first before reading!) I think it's absolutely perfect.

  11. I've been swamped and have been a bad blogging buddy. My apologies. I love the image and YES absolutely that could be a girl making her way. I always love that about snowsuits, the morphing of the sexes, the blurring of identity and of course the bright red noses that peek out.
What a perfect card, sure to bring warmth and joy to all who open the envelope to reveal it.

  12. What a sweet card. I love it. Every year, I seek out cool/funky/otherwise interesting Christmas card designs, and then never order and/or send a single one. I'm just not organized enough, I guess. Someday, perhaps, maybe I'll grow up enough to put addresses on cards and get them to the post office before Christmas, but I don't think I'll hold my breath! But, then again, I see posts like this, or get cards in the mail and think that I'd really like to send some. Ah, well. I'll just add that to my list!

  14. That is truly adorable. I'm too cheap, I usually buy cards from the previous year's clearance bin.
