#MicroblogMondays: A royally good day :)

I came home last Thursday afternoon to a most welcome voice mail message:  a woman from the courthouse called to tell me my jury duty (which was to have begun today) had been cancelled and I was no longer required to attend. To say I was relieved is an understatement. :)

Dh decreed that we would spend the day doing something I wanted to do, and so we headed into the city this morning. The Royal Ontario Museum has an excellent exhibit about Pompeii right now (a topic that has fascinated me since I was a kid), and we spent a few hours there. (I am sure you could spend the entire day there and still not see everything.)  We also walked around dh's old stomping grounds at the University of Toronto, and finished off the day with our favourite tourist attraction of all (lol) -- a visit to the nearby mega-bookstore. Definitely much preferable to jury duty.  ;)

  1. I definitely think that your royally good day was preferable to jury duty! Glad you had a great day with your dh instead of in court!

  2. Woo hoo! Sounds like a lovely lovely day, and definitely better than sitting around waiting at jury duty.

Pompeii has also fascinated me - I studied Latin at high school, and Pompeii was often referenced, we learnt about it, looked at pictures etc. A highlight of my first trip to Rome was a day trip to Pompeii. Absolutely amazing. Now you can plan for a trip there too! ;-)

  3. I have always been fascinated by Pompeii also. The castings are so haunting! We had a traveling exhibit come to the Museum of Science in Boston a couple of years ago and it was wonderful!

  6. Hurray for getting out of jury duty! That sounds like a much much better day.

I still haven't been to the Pompeii exhibition (which is silly as we are members of the ROM). I want to check out the extent of the not-G-rated elements before bringing E. along.

Did you hit up BMV? I love that place. We lived in the Annex our first year and I had to limit myself to buying one book a month because it got a bit out of control...

  7. Turia -- there is one section of the exhibit titled "Sex & the City" that is back in a little enclosed corner, with warning sign that the content may not be appropriate for everyone, lol. I'd never seen that before at a museum -- but in this case, it probably was a good idea. ;) I thought it was a great exhibit. The body casts are at the very end -- very moving to see, but I'm not sure how that would go over with a child. We went to the Indigo store down the street afterwards. :)

    1. Oh, that's right. I had forgotten they had body casts. That could go either way with E. I'll have to see what Q. thinks (he's been once already).
