We actually went to a party this year, a gala thingie through Kodak, and I was HORRIBLY DISAPPOINTED to find that it was not a viewing party at all. That I missed the entire first two hours. We actually left early at 9:30 to go home and watch the rest in pajamas. I was real tired Monday morning. I loved Jodi Foster and Jennifer Lawrence's co-presenting. I loved how gloriously weird Frances McDormand is. I loved Maya Rudolph and Tiffany Haddish's co-presenting. I loved the video on diversity in films. There was a lot to love, and I am just so mad that I missed so much!Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15868505568965284742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3178366214524455884.post-28082333879535124332018-03-09T04:25:17.152-05:002018-03-09T04:25:17.152-05:00Oscar parties aren't a thing here because the ...Oscar parties aren't a thing here because the show starts in the middle of the afternoon. In my self/un-employed days, I often record and watch later in the afternoon when I cam fast toward. This year we were driving north, and missed it completely. I hear you on the noise levels at viewing parties -- some people are there more for the party/socializing than the show itself, which is annoying to serious Oscar afficionados like me. ;) loribethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09272814565916935113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3178366214524455884.post-13046285159038987152018-03-05T13:38:19.165-05:002018-03-05T13:38:19.165-05:00I got a chuckle out of Mark Hamill's "Don...I got a chuckle out of Mark Hamill's "Don't say LaLa Land, don't say LaLa Land..." :)

We have, in previous years, been invited to some friends' house for an Oscar party - potluck, and usually with a heavy focus on the red-carpet fashion critique. But a) that can be a very late evening with a half-hour drive at the end of it and a work day in the morning, and b) it gets overwhelming when one's fellow guests are carrying on multiple, competing conversations in ever-increasing volume levels. I prefer to watch it your way, curled up on the couch with my husband and the cats, and able to get up and take care of some laundry during the commercials. And anyway, the party didn't happen this year as I'm sure the hosts were busy with their kid.Rivqahnoreply@blogger.com
