Then I realized someone behind me actually WAS singing along. I'm not even sure she realized she was doing it. I stifled a giggle as I envisioned the whole store breaking out in song & dance, like an episode of "Glee" or a movie musical. ;)
Later in the week, I was in another outlet of the same store, quietly boogie-ing down among the stacks to Stevie Wonder's "Uptight (Everything is Alright)."
Ah, the power of Motown. ;)
Please tell me that I'm not the only one who finds herself singing in public (or desperately stifling the urge to??) (And does anyone else think Marvin Gaye was damned sexy??)
(P.S. While I try to restrain myself in public, I DO sing along to the radio in the car. And sometimes in the shower.)

LB, You're NOT the only one. Rock on.
ReplyDeleteTerribly contagious music. I don't sing in public, but does dancing discreetly count?
ReplyDeleteI at least mouth the words to catchy songs. I can't help myself! I also sing in the car, in the shower, and sometimes I randomly burst out in song to annoy my husband. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't always know the words. But I do find myself twitching to sounds in the supermarket. I sing in the car or elsewhere when I am alone - or only my husband is around. "Ain't no mountain high enough" would be hard to resist!
ReplyDeletehaha, yeah sometimes I sing along too. Or if I have earphones on and I forget that no one else can hear the music!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I do that, too (sing and dance automatically)! I always have, only now I care less what people think.
ReplyDeleteI think you and I would be quite a sight if we hung out together in public :-) We should try sometime.
Singing in public? Check. I also dance in the freezer aisle. But mostly when there's no one else in the store. :)
ReplyDeleteI DO sing aloud. And don't realize I'm doing it until I see people staring. But sometimes I'm just in my own world in the store. My most recent one was a Yael Naim song in a food store at the beach.
ReplyDeleteHehe...,I only sing when I’m by myself, since I can’t carry a tune.
ReplyDeleteWhen I’m shopping, usually in the quieter times, I have been known to modestly bop up and down the aisles while pushing the trolley.
That's how you can tell how great Motown music was - decades later, it has people practically singing in the aisles! Love it!
